Six Things That Move Your Window Estimate

The calculator handles count, size, material, and glass. These are the line items behind those inputs that show up on a real estimate.

Frame material

Vinyl is the value tier. Fiberglass and composite (Andersen Fibrex, Marvin Elevate, Pella Impervia) cost more but last longer in NJ’s freeze-thaw climate.

Window size & type

Standard double-hung windows are the baseline. Picture, casement, slider, bay, and bow windows cost more — bays and bows can be 2–3× a standard window.

Glass package

Standard Low-E is included. Triple-pane, impact glass, decorative, and obscured glass all step up the price.

Grid pattern

Plain glass is included. Colonial grids, prairie patterns, custom grilles, and grids-between-glass options cost more on premium clad-wood lines.

Trim & capping

Interior trim caulking and exterior aluminum capping (or PVC trim) over the existing wood — done correctly, water can’t get behind it.

Old-window removal

Tear-out and disposal of the old units is part of the install. We size new windows to fit the existing rough opening unless framing changes are needed.

Window Calculator Questions

If yours isn’t here, call us. We’ll give you a real answer.

It’s a useful starting point. Most replacement projects are sized by window count, but oversized windows, bays, bows, and unusual shapes are priced individually. The calculator handles average size — we adjust on the written estimate for any non-standard openings.

Vinyl gives the best value. Fiberglass (Marvin Elevate, Pella Impervia, Andersen Fibrex) is the strongest on long-term durability and color stability. Clad-wood (Andersen 400/A-Series, Pella Architect, Marvin Signature) is the premium option — beautiful interiors and the strongest warranty profiles.

Yes. Every replacement window install includes interior trim caulking and exterior aluminum capping (or PVC trim) over the existing wood — done correctly so water can’t get behind.

Quality vinyl: 25–30 years. Fiberglass and clad-wood: 40+ years. The biggest factor is install quality — windows installed without proper flashing fail in a fraction of their rated life regardless of brand.

Either works. We’re happy to do a single broken or fogged window. Most homeowners doing a renovation do them in batches by floor or elevation. Pricing is best on full-house replacements but we don’t require it.
