Types of Storm Damage We Handle

New Jersey weather is tough on roofs. Here’s what we see most after major storms.

Hail Damage

Owens Corning Preferred Contractor — factory-certified installers backed by industry-leading warranties.

Hail bruises and cracks shingles in ways that aren’t always visible from the ground. We inspect every section of the roof and document granule loss, cracking, and dents for your insurance claim.

Wind Damage

High winds lift and tear shingles, pull up flashing, and can damage the decking underneath. Even if shingles look intact, the seals may be broken — letting water in with the next rain.

Fallen Trees & Branches

Impact damage from trees or large branches can go deep — through shingles, through underlayment, and into the decking. We assess the full structural impact before quoting the repair.

Ice Dam Damage

Ice dams form when heat escapes the attic and refreezes at the eaves. The ice backs up under the shingles and forces water into your home. We repair the damage and can address the ventilation issue causing it.

Heavy Snow Load

Excessive snow weight stresses the roof structure. We inspect for sagging, cracked rafters, and any damage to the decking or covering after a significant snow event.

Water Intrusion

Storm damage often creates entry points that aren’t obvious until the next rain. We track water intrusion back to its actual source — not just the spot where it’s showing up inside the home.

We Know the Claims Process — and We Handle It With You

Most homeowners don’t file storm damage claims often enough to know the process. We do this regularly. We know what insurance adjusters look for, how to document damage so it doesn’t get dismissed, and how to get your claim approved for the full scope of work needed.

We don’t just hand you a repair estimate and leave you to figure out the paperwork. We coordinate directly with your adjuster, provide the documentation they need, and make sure nothing gets overlooked.

  • Thorough photo and measurement documentation
  • Direct coordination with your insurance adjuster
  • Repair scoped to actual damage — not a minimum patchwork
  • Restoration to pre-storm or better condition
Slope-by-slope photo documentation, not a walkthrough summaryWe photograph every section individually with close-ups of impact points, granule displacement, and bruising — the level of detail adjusters need to approve a claim.
We scope what the storm caused, separate from existing wearSome damage is new. Some is pre-existing. We document both honestly and separate them in the estimate — so the claim covers what it should, and nothing more.
Emergency tarping protects your interior while the claim is processedWe stop active water intrusion first. A properly installed tarp preserves your claim eligibility and keeps interior damage from compounding while paperwork moves.
We stay involved through the supplement processIf the adjuster’s first assessment misses items — and they often do — we provide additional documentation and work with you through the supplement until the scope is right.

Storm Damage FAQ

What homeowners ask us most after a major storm.

A lot of storm damage — especially hail — isn’t visible from the ground. Signs to watch for: granules in your gutters after a storm, visible dents or cracks on shingles, damaged flashing, or a new leak inside the home. The safest way to know is to have someone get on the roof. We do that inspection for free.

Damage caused by hail, wind, fallen trees, and similar sudden events is typically covered by standard homeowner’s insurance policies. Normal wear and aging is not. We document the damage thoroughly and help you understand whether a claim makes sense before you file.

Call us first. We’ll inspect and document the damage so you know what you’re dealing with before the adjuster comes out. It’s much easier to make sure nothing gets missed when we’ve already been up there with a camera. Then we coordinate with the adjuster together.

It varies by insurance company and the volume of claims after a major storm event. Typically 2–4 weeks from inspection to approval. We stay in contact with your adjuster throughout the process and push things forward when we can.

It happens. We’ve seen adjusters miss damage that was clearly there. We’ll walk through our documentation with you, explain what was missed, and help you understand your options — including requesting a re-inspection or working with a public adjuster if necessary.
