What Happens During Your New Roof Installation
A clean install comes down to order, protection and never covering up a problem. Here’s the sequence we follow on NJ homes and additions. Bigger or more complex roofs take more work, but the standard stays the same.
- Site prep & deck check. We protect shrubs, walkways and siding first. On an addition or re-roof, the old roofing comes off. Then we walk the bare deck, replace any loose or rotted sheathing and photograph it before anything new goes down.
- Underlayment & edges. Ice & water barrier at the eaves and valleys, synthetic underlayment everywhere else, and new drip edge on every edge. That layer keeps water out when wind drives rain up under the shingles.
- Shingles, flashing & ventilation. Starter strip first, then shingles nailed to the manufacturer’s exact pattern, since one nailing mistake can cost you the warranty. Step flashing at the walls, new pipe flanges, hip & ridge cap and ridge vent.
- Clean-up & walkthrough. We run a magnetic sweep over the lawn, driveway and beds for loose nails and haul away every bit of debris. Then we walk you through the new roof, hand you the warranty paperwork and answer your questions right there.
Asphalt, Metal or Designer Shingles: We’ll Tell You What Suits Your Home
Most NJ homes are best served by architectural asphalt, but sometimes metal or a designer shingle really is the better pick. Here’s a straight breakdown, and our recommendation will be based on your house, not on what earns the biggest invoice.
Architectural asphalt shingles. The standard for most NJ homes. Designer and luxury shingles. Slate-look, shake-look and heavy premium profiles that make a house stand out. They weigh more than standard asphalt, so we’ll check that the framing is ready for it before you fall for a sample.

Plan & Schedule
We review your plans, measure the roof and coordinate the install with your builder. Materials are ordered early so the roof never holds up the job.
Prep the Deck
We check the sheathing, fasten any loose panels and make sure the deck is clean and flat. Anything that isn’t right gets flagged and fixed before we move on.
Install the Full System
Ice & water barrier, synthetic underlayment, drip edge, flashing at every penetration and valley, starter, shingles, ridge cap and ridge vent, each installed in the right order.
Walkthrough & Warranty
We walk the finished roof, photograph the completed install and hand over every warranty document, including our 10-year roofing workmanship warranty in writing.
