LP SmartSide Engineered Wood Siding
Real Wood Look. Engineered to Outlast Real Wood.
LP SmartSide gives you real cedar warmth with engineered muscle — impact-resistant, rot-resistant, and lighter than fiber cement. But all that durability evaporates if a single cut end goes unsealed or a fastener lands wrong. Sealing every cut and nailing to spec is exactly the part we obsess over — and back in writing.
LP SmartSide lives or dies on the details — sealed cuts, correct fastening, flashed transitions. We install it to spec, document the work, and back it in writing. Call (973) 713-1053 for a free assessment.
Engineered Wood Options We Install
LP SmartSide builds engineered wood for siding, trim, and soffit — but the product is only half the result. We install the full line to LP’s exact spec and mix profiles to nail the look you want, with every detail documented and backed in writing.
Lap Siding
Classic horizontal profile with real wood-grain texture, in widths from traditional to craftsman. It holds paint far longer than raw wood — but only when cut ends are sealed and courses are fastened right. That detail is the whole difference between a lap job that stays crisp for decades and one that telegraphs every seam in a year. We sweat it on every install.
Panel Siding
Large-format vertical panels for board-and-batten and modern looks — fewer seams, same engineered durability. Speed is exactly where most crews cut corners, and rushed flashing at the battens is the #1 way panel siding leaks. We flash to spec, document the work, and back it in writing — so fast never turns into sloppy.
Shake Siding
Hand-split cedar-shake character with none of the cedar upkeep. These panels won’t split, crack, or drink in moisture the way real wood does — but they still have to be sealed and flashed correctly to deliver on the promise. That’s the step we never skip, on every panel.
Trim Boards
LP SmartSide trim for corners, windows, doors, and band boards — matched to the system for a seamless exterior. Trim is where moisture sneaks in if joints aren’t sealed right, which is why we treat every trim joint as waterproofing, not decoration. That mindset is what keeps the whole wall dry.
Soffit
LP SmartSide soffit for vented and non-vented runs, engineered to resist moisture in the overhang where rot starts. Get the ventilation wrong and you trap moisture in your attic — a hidden problem that costs far more later. We size the soffit to exactly what your home needs, and stand behind it.
Pre-Finished Options
LP SmartSide comes factory-primed and in a range of pre-finished colors that give more consistent coverage than field painting. We’ll walk you through every color and finish and tell you straight which one holds up best — no upsell, just the option that earns its keep.
Real Wood Look — Earned by the Install, Not Just the Board
LP SmartSide is for the homeowner who wants real wood-grain warmth without a lifetime of scraping and repainting. Engineered wood strands, treated with zinc borate and bound in a moisture-resistant resin, give you the look of wood that actually lasts — but only if the cut ends are sealed and the laps are nailed to spec. Skip that and you’ve paid for premium wood and bought a budget result. We make sure that never happens to you.
It’s lighter than fiber cement, easier to work, and holds nails without splitting — the practical pick for wood-grain warmth without the upkeep. But the smartest dollar you spend isn’t on the board; it’s on a crew that installs to LP’s exact spec, because that spec is what keeps the 50-year warranty valid instead of voided. That’s us, and we put it in writing.
- 50-year limited warranty against rot and fungal decay
- Treated against insects and termites
- Real wood grain texture — not a printed pattern
- Impact-resistant — shrugs off flying debris far better than vinyl
Our LP SmartSide Process
From estimate to warranty docs — no surprises.
Free In-Home Estimate
We measure the home, assess the existing siding and substrate, and give you a clear written estimate — one company accountable for the whole job, with our name on it.
Profile & Color Selection
We walk you through LP SmartSide profiles and pre-finished color options so you can see exactly what you’re getting before we order materials.
Tear-Off & Substrate Prep
Existing siding comes off. We inspect sheathing for rot or damage, make any repairs, and install housewrap before the first LP panel goes up.
Installation & Finishing
Panels installed to LP’s exact spec, every penetration flashed, every cut end sealed, and any field painting done in quality exterior paint. We document the work as we go and hand you the warranty paperwork at completion — backed by Nail Force in writing, on top of LP’s 50-year warranty we’ve installed to keep valid.
Engineered Wood Rewards a Careful Install
LP SmartSide gives you real wood looks with far better durability — but the engineered material still depends on proper sealing and fastening to keep moisture out and the warranty intact.
Every field cut needs sealing. Skip it and moisture wicks straight into the board.
Right fasteners, right placement — what keeps panels tight for the long haul.
Windows, trim, transitions — the spots that leak when someone rushes.

What homeowners ask before choosing LP SmartSide.
Both are excellent, long-lived materials — and we install both, so our advice isn’t skewed toward one. Hardie is heavier, non-combustible, and a touch more impact-resistant. LP SmartSide is lighter, easier to repair, and has a more authentic wood grain, with a 50-year warranty against Hardie’s 30. Either way, the warranty only holds if it’s installed to spec — which is the part we guarantee in writing. We’ll walk you through both at the estimate.
LP SmartSide comes factory-primed and needs to be painted or finished within 180 days of installation. Pre-finished options eliminate on-site painting. Field-painted LP requires quality exterior paint and periodic repainting (typically every 8–15 years depending on finish and paint quality). We’ll discuss which option makes sense for your situation.
Yes — that’s the whole point of engineered wood. The zinc borate treatment resists fungal decay, and the resin binder is designed to handle moisture without swelling or delaminating the way untreated wood does. But the engineering only pays off behind a spec-correct install, with sealed cuts and proper flashing. That’s the half we control, and we don’t cut corners on it.
LP SmartSide’s 50-year limited warranty covers material defects under normal use, including rot and fungal decay — but read the fine print: it’s only valid with proper installation per LP’s guidelines and finishing within the required window. A 50-year warranty installed by a careless crew is just paper. We install to LP’s exact spec and document it, so your warranty actually holds — and we back the work in writing on top of it.
