Six Things That Move Your Siding Estimate
The calculator handles wall area and material. These are the line items that show up on a written estimate — and that contractors who skip them later add to your bill.
Material grade
Vinyl is the baseline. Insulated vinyl is roughly 1.5×. Fiber cement and engineered wood add labor and material complexity. Cedar is the premium tier.
Tear-off & wrap
Removing existing siding, replacing house wrap, sealing window and door openings — non-negotiable on a real full replacement.
Trim & corner work
Aluminum trim, J-channel, corner posts, soffit and fascia detail. Skipped corners and weak trim work is the #1 reason siding jobs leak in 5 years.
Window & door wrap
Capping every window and door in matching aluminum or PVC. Done correctly, water can’t get behind it.
Color & accent options
Standard color palettes are included; custom colors and dark-color upgrades on insulated vinyl can carry a premium — disclosed up front.
House complexity
Victorians, multi-gable, and custom homes with heavy trim work take more labor hours than a simple ranch or colonial.
Siding Calculator Questions
If yours isn’t here, call us. We’ll give you a real answer.
Fiber cement is about 3× the material cost and roughly 1.5× the labor. The boards are heavier, cuts produce silica dust requiring proper PPE and dust suppression, and the install is more particular about flashing and joint detail.
Yes. Every full siding replacement includes house wrap, window and door flashing tape, kick-out flashing where roofs meet walls, and proper J-channel and trim detail. None of that is “extra.”
On full replacements, yes — we tear off down to the sheathing, inspect for rot, replace any bad sheathing, and install fresh house wrap before the new siding goes on. Re-siding over old siding hides problems.
We are a CertainTeed SidingMaster — one of the highest-tier siding installer credentials in the industry. We’re not James Hardie Certified, but we install Hardie regularly to manufacturer spec.
Standard color palettes are included. Custom or premium color matches and dark-color upgrades on insulated vinyl can add a small premium — we disclose that on the written estimate, not buried in the line items.
